Edward Walter Perih, husband and beloved Pal to Lynne, Dad to Greg (Jamie) and Jennifer (Sean), Papa to Avery, Adelyn and "Paw-pa" to Finley, brother to Annie, brother-in-law to Ken, Ron, Cathy, and Jane, Uncle Ed to many nieces, nephews and their children, and a good friend "Eduardo" or "Fast Eddy" to countless.
Never alone and surrounded by love and family, Ed passed peacefully after a brief but extremely brave battle with Lung Cancer.
Born in North Vancouver to Fred and Tena Perih and always loved by older sister Annie, Ed grew up in Queensborough. There, he met lifelong friends and learned many lessons that would shape his journey. A strong work ethic, determination to always give his best and keep his word, intense loyalty, strength and resilience emboldened him to take big leaps, which in 1976 led him to his forever home with Lynne and the Heath Family.
He and Lynne eventually settled in South Surrey to raise their family in a great neighbourhood, continuing to make meaningful friendships at every turn and, of course, hosting many epic parties.
Family and friendship were the core of Ed's being. Known for his generosity, wisdom, wit, open heart and open home. He was a light, a guide, a good time and a "fixer" to many along the way.
From his mid-twenties on, Ed ran successful construction businesses. He spent most of his career as owner with Terry (aka Hamster) of Division Ten before retiring early to enjoy time with his family, friends and Lynne.
Lynne and Ed were inseparable Pals and enjoyed much of their retirement in San Jose Del Cabo and traveling to see friends worldwide.
If love were enough, he would still be here. Ed will be missed terribly by all who knew him and continued to count on him. We will do our best to make him proud by lifting each other up, giving our all, and taking the time to enjoy the things we have and the people around us.
Knowing and loving his family and friends was the real success story of Ed's life.
A Celebration of Life is planned for December 9 at the Semiahmoo Fish and Game Club. More details will be shared shortly.
Thank you to all who have sent condolences and shared memories; it has meant so much. Instead of any flowers, etc., donations in Ed's memory to causes that matter to you and a toast at your favourite local establishment are appreciated.
Let your love fly like a bird on a wing
And let your love bind you to all living things
And let your love shine and you'll know what I mean
